No More Excuses

smilingI just wanted to take the time to share some tips with you to really keep you focused and motivated with your training. Motivation will be a key factor at driving you towards achieving your goals, and without motivation it is likely that excuses and a negative mindset will get in the way of this process.

Ask yourself, how many times have you let excuses affect your health and fitness goals?? How many times have you said...

"I'm just too busy, i'll work out tomorrow"

"I dont have the time to eat well and plan my meals better"


"I'll just wait till after the holidays to work out and get in better shape"

"I'm just too busy with work right now"

"I'm just too busy with the house renovations, family, kids etc etc etc........excuse excuse excuse"

You can see where I'm headed with this. Those who truely value their health always make the time to eat well and exercise, regardless of how busy they are. Don't ever let your health and fitness be at the bottom of the priority list. This is the starting point towards a happier and healthier you, and below are some tips on how to help maintain your motivation levels. 

 

Your health and fitness should be a high priority in your life just as is going to the doctor, paying your bills, working, and leisure time etc. Those who fail to prioritise their health unfortunately tend to fall into a sedentary and unhealthy lifestyle, and don't achieve the level of fitness and the body that they dream of. Overcome the negative mental barriers of "I can't do this" or "this is too hard", because you can achieve it if you believe you can. When we make health and fitness a priority, we will feel, function and live better because of it. The fact that you have made a choice to join my classes shows me that you have set it as a priority in your life.

Push Yourself

After you have mastered the basic techniques of functional exercise, make sure you challenge yourself at each and every training session. This is the reason you are here right? Give 100% of your dedication, and know that this is moving you closer to your goals. You will gain a feeling of achievement knowing you have given your all every time you train.

In saying that, if you are feeling run down or sick, listen to your body and reduce your training intensity, but keep training.

Stop Making Excuses

Making excuses is simply a resistance to change. Change is never an easy thing for most people, but have you considered the consequences of not changing? Recognise when you are making excuses, and stop them before they turn into actions and get in the way of you achieving your goals.

Know Your Goals

Do you know that people who regularly write down their goals have a greater chance of achieving them? Write down what you want to achieve with your fitness, or find a picture of a person with a body similar to what you want to have. Place this on your fridge or somewhere where you can look at it regularly to gain inspiration and motivation.

Be Supported!

Support from family and friends can be a huge source of motivation. Talk to your partner and family about what you are trying to achieve with your health, and in turn this will involve them in the process so they can provide you with support and encouragement. Your results will be seriously hindered, if after pouring all your effort into your training, you come home to a house full of junk food, especially when it's not your junk food. Talk to the people you live with and work something out, even better why not bring them down for a free class so together you can make positive changes.

Bringing a friend along to training with you is also an excellent source of motivation. Statistics show that people are more likely to achieve their goals and stick to their training when training with a friend.

Training with a personal trainer provides you with a source of motivation that you cannot gain from simply going to the gym. I will provide ongoing support, and I am always available by phone or email if you have any questions.
