Why you should adjust your training intensity, daily.

One reason we’re anti ‘bootcamp’ here at Enliven, is because they encourage participants to go hard, every day.
 
That effective training is about going big and going home exhausted. Even though most of us are hardwired to assume that ‘more = better’, it’s simply not the case when it comes to exercise.
 
Some days, your nervous system is already drained from work, lack of sleep or general stress. To put yourself through a taxing workout under these circumstances can cause fatigue, reductions in strength and increase your risk of injury.
 
If you’re fatigued coming into a workout, it may be better to do a simpler, more restorative practice instead. Despite feeling ‘easier’, it can actually nourish your nervous system and help you get stronger in the long-run.
 
We check-in with you every class to see where you’re at, and adjust your workout accordingly.
 
And while we love the feeling of a good, hard, sweaty workout - for true health, gung-ho must be balanced with gentle and restorative.
